PLAYERLYNC FOR ANDROID

PlayerLync for Android offers a strong solution for Google Android devices, but a few points are important to remember when considering an Android implementation:

  1. Android encompasses literally thousands of different devices with varying capabilities. Some low-cost Android devices may not offer an optimal experience with PlayerLync.

  2. Android manufacturers control the Operating System updates to maintain the best experience for the given hardware; as a result, PlayerLync compatibility is keyed to the OS (see OS table below)

DEVICE SUPPORT

PlayerLync provides support for both Android tablets and phones. Given the real estate on phones, some annotation capabilities are not available for creation. Though, full viewing support is provided.

OPERATING SYSTEM SUPPORT

PlayerLync supports all current versions of the Android operating system defined in the table below. This ensures the best experience possible and matches the minimum recommended hardware that manufacturers provide updates for.

DEVICE SPECIFICATIONS

All minimum requirements must be met to install and run the PlayerLync Android app. If your device only meets the minimum requirements, you may not have the greatest experience and might want to consider purchasing a new device.

Processor: In order to create an optimal experience with the PlayerLync application we use benchmark scores of processors to determine performance. The processor market is constantly changing, may have misleading model numbers, and have many other varying factors like fabrication type, clock speed, cores etc. Due to this wide variance, we use the GeekBench 5 SQLite scores. You can find the SQLite scores on this page: https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-list/rating

Small Customer (10 – 500 users and/or less than 200 pieces of content)

  • Minimum Requirement: GeekBench 5 SQLite - 300 / Krows/s or higher
  • Recommended Requirement: GeekBench 5 SQLite - 400 / Krows/s or higher

Medium Customer (501 - 999 users and/or less than 700 pieces of content)

  • Minimum Requirement: GeekBench 5 SQLite - 300 / Krows/s or higher
  • Recommended Requirement: GeekBench 5 SQLite - 500 / Krows/s or higher

Large Customer (1000+ users and/or more than 700 pieces of content)

  • Minimum Requirement: GeekBench 5 SQLite - 400 / Krows/s or higher
  • Recommended Requirement: GeekBench 5 SQLite - 600 / Krows/s or higher

Note: You can also find the SQLite score by downloading the Geekbench app on your device and running a CPU test. After running the test, review the “Multi-Core Performance” scores for your device’s SQLite score.

Memory: Most devices come in a variety of memory options.

  • Minimum Requirement: 4.0GB of RAM or greater
  • PlayerLync Recommended: 6.0 GB of RAM or greater

Storage: We support external storage BUT performance is dependent on the SD Card. Be sure to check your device specifications for what it supports.
PlayerLync recommends at least 200/mb write speeds for external storage cards.
